Feroce il dente aguzzi sul mio collo
sotto una doccia calda ma non troppo.
Sarà questo succhiotto un francobollo
per rispedirmi a te senza l’intoppo
di carta e busta con i cuoricini:
messaggio che ti giunge inaspettato,
che scorre sotto gli occhi tuoi bambini,
prodotto manuale, artigianato

You whet your fierce tooth on my neck
under a shower that’s hot, not scalding.
Could this hickey be a postage stamp
to send me back to you without the hitch
of an envelope and card with dainty hearts?
An unexpected message you receive,
that flows before your childlike eyes,
a handicraft the workmanship of which,
as you must know, swells me with pride.
I take hold of it and jiggle at every rhyme
this pen that squirts black ink while I write
with you—or later, to sum up, if not before,
I expand the album of delights
we had in bed within my heart.
