First Person Singular
For instance he may be living another life beside the life
he lives beside you.
This is not mere word play.
You want to believe you are beautiful
because it’s too much to behold
every morning, the mirror crying back
Loss Loss Loss
Some mornings he stands there beside you.
You long for him to say
Let me lay my bones beside yours.
Let our skulls lie together,
let the whisper of wind & insect
be nothing between us, let rain
be nothing, dirt, stones.
But why expect him to hear
the longing in your bones.
