The Vatican tells us not to do it:
no wedding for us, that means.
But this State that mints the coins,
my love, cannot dissolve our pact.
Joined together for a tea-time snack
in the sitting-room, we touched hands.
As we munched a cookie, we promised:
“I’ll be the bandage for your wounds.”
At bottom, we don’t want a marriage.
Sharing a kiss in the sun is enough:
for our offspring, a future of days.
This indeed is our fortune, our wealth.
(Who says they’re not queers as well,
those beings up there with the wings?)
